Lives Around the World - KS3 Geography Extension Pack
Four ready-to-use enrichment activities for KS3 Geography students who've mastered the basics of lives around the world — ideal for extension tasks, homework, cover lessons, or stretching high achievers. No preparation required. Suitable for students aged 11-14.
Lives around the world is a KS3 geography topic about how people in different places really live. Geographers combine statistics, photographs and interviews, because an average such as GDP per capita (a country's yearly output divided by its population) cannot show how any one family lives.
🧠 Each activity targets higher-order thinking: a 12-term vocabulary matching exercise (12 marks) covering terms such as GDP per capita, inequality and favela; a 25-mark challenge quiz with a World Bank data table; a 20-mark case study on Paraisópolis, a favela in São Paulo, Brazil; and a creative Teach It Back task where students write a one-page guide for a Year 5 pupil, assessed with a provided rubric. Full answer keys and marking guidance are included. Comes as a PDF and an editable Word file (DOCX).
